Pour amorcer son 26e anniversaire avec éclats, DARE-DARE réalise un projet ambitieux intitulé SATELLITE. Conçu comme une entreprise extraordinaire de mise en valeur de notre programme d’art dans l’espace public, SATELLITE fera rayonner au delà du territoire montréalais des pratiques artistiques critiques et audacieuses, qui questionnent et renouvellent la notion de présence et qui contribuent à la diversification des modes de présentation des œuvres et des interventions artistiques dans l’espace de la ville.
À travers cette grande aventure d’une durée de deux mois, nous poursuivrons le double objectif de présenter DARE-DARE et son mandat et de créer des liens avec des organismes qui ont une vocation similaire. Nous ferons deux escales (de trois semaines chacune) : d’abord à Detroit au Michigan puis à Tijuana au Mexique, où nous avons établi des contacts avec des organismes pairs.
Les deux destinations offrent des contextes d’interventions riches en possibilités et sont toutes deux situées dans des zones frontalières. Sur place, DARE-DARE louera un abri mobile pour en faire son quartier général, celui-ci sera à la fois le lieu d’ancrage pour les événements festifs et la base de travail pour les projets qui nécessitent un atelier. À chacune des stations, des artistes seront invités par DARE-DARE pour créer et présenter un projet inédit conçu spécifiquement pour ces contextes.

To start its 26th birthday with a bang, DARE-DARE is programming an ambitious project entitled SATELLITE. During this two-month adventure, DARE-DARE will travel to Detroit and Tijuana for three-week “artist-organization-in-residencies” in each city. Both destinations offer interesting intervention contexts and are located in border zones. We will connect with partner organizations with similar mandates.
SATELLITE promises to be an extraordinary showcase of DARE-DARE’s mandate of programming critical and risk-taking artistic practices in public spaces which question and renew the concept of presence and contribute to the diversification of present modes of art making through artistic interventions in city space.
At each location, DARE-DARE will rent a mobile office, which will function as a base for programming events and the headquarters for projects requiring a workshop. In so doing, DARE-DARE re-creates our mobile reality in Montréal, offering participants a chance to engage with our artist-run-centre as if they were in Québec, in a sense.
In both Detroit and Tijuana, two Canadians and a local collective will be invited by DARE-DARE to create and present a new project, conceived specifically for these contexts. During this time, in Montreal, regular programming will be put in relay with those diffused in SATELLITE’s orbit.
